On June 27, 2008 addressing a congregation of saints at Satsang Bhawan, His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj stated;

“Along with remaining linked with God-Awareness, devotees also listen attentively to every word spoken during the congregation, make a place for them in their life and thus make it more and more virtuous.  The precious words of saints have always made an extremely significant contribution in man’s life; those who make a place for them in their life after listening to them truly benefit from them.  Generally man remains limited only to listening such words with his ears!  The words of saints were spoken so that man may adopt them and live his life according to them.

The glory of God-Formless should be sung not merely with words; every pore should remain in its Awareness. The mind too, should constantly remember that indeed God-Formless is the Above All and the Source and Support of the whole creation. A devotee sings His glory as well as does every action in His Awareness.  He lives his life while surrendered to the One with innumerable attributes, who is beyond mind, intellect and wisdom.  Devotion is not a matter of thinking, intellect and cleverness; it is the feelings which are taken into account in devotion. The feelings based upon love, Truth, humility etc. are indeed loftiest.  A devotee lives his life imbibed with such feelings.  As a result he attains bliss.  The ants which pick the granules of sugar from sand can taste its sweetness but the ones which have already filled their mouth with muck can not taste it!  They remain deprived of the taste of sugar.  Similarly the one hued in the hue of God-Formless attains bliss whereas the one filled with evil-mindedness remains deprived of it.

Devotion is a state of mind; it is not a name given to a specific way of dressing up.  A devotee is recognized by his state of mind; he can be a man, a woman or even a child.  A devotee is indeed lofty as well as significant.  Devotees pray God to bless them with selfless devotion and feelings of love and humility; they do not want to live their life imbibed with the ill-feelings in which worldly-minded live and lose their state of bliss.  Life becomes beautiful when lived while accompanied with the feelings of saintliness.  Devotees inspire others as well as pray for themselves so that they may not get lost in worldly feelings and tendencies; instead they wish to live their life while giving significance to God Formless, love and humility.”
