On July 29, 2008 a congregation was organized for the first time at Glasgow, Scotland in Cooper’s Hall. A large number of devotees from Dubai, Canada, India, America, U.K. as well as members of various religious organizations attended it. Sewa Dal volunteers had beautifully decorated the hall and the stage. The officials of Sant Nirankari Mandal welcomed Baba Ji with bouquets of flowers upon his arrival. Blessing the Congregation His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj stated;
“The noble-minded value every word spoken during the congregation and gain from it whereas the evil-minded remain busy with criticism and fault-finding. Devotees look only for virtues, drink only the Elixir; their faith in Truth remains firm and unshakeable under all circumstances. The willful, on the other hand, sink more and more in the quicksand of ignorance instead of rising above it and thus waste away the precious opportunity for Salvation. God Formless in His kindness has gifted man with a precious human body and a soul. The body is valueless without the soul. Those who Realise the True Value of human life become invaluable themselves.
The words of saints inspire man to love fellow-humans as all are created equally by One God Formless. Imbibed with God-knowledge man loves all and cherishes no ill-will for any. Otherwise, man lives a life overpowered by pride and hatred. All the saints have told man time and again that life is meaningless without love. The tendency of mind is such that it takes no time to adopt and follow the evil. The company of saints helps man harness and control his mind and make his life happy herein as well as hereafter; man learns the art of living a meaningful and fruitful life in this world as well as attains Salvation for his soul through God-realisation. Such is the magnitude of saints’ company. Only the One who is himself Liberated of ignorance can liberate the others entangled in delusion. A dirty drain becomes pure when it comes in contact with Ganges; the company of a sandal-wood tree imparts fragrance even to an ordinary tree; the Alchemisht’s stone turns iron into Gold. Similarly an evil-minded gets transformed in the company of saints.
In every age saints have made untold efforts to Awaken man from the stupor of ignorance. But man’s state of mind is such that he does not pay attention to saints’ invaluable words – ‘Aandhey Aagey Nachiye, Kala Akarath Jaye’ or it is a terrible waste of art to dance before a blind! Saints ask man to live life with Truth, love, humility, large heartedness and brotherhood. But man turns a blind’s eye to their message and lives his life in untruth, hatred, pride, narrow-mindedness, while fighting and creating a fight between man and man!
Man’s mind influences his life. Negative thinking leads to negative actions whereas positive thinking leads to positive actions. Devotees make a constant effort to sublimate their mind by attending regular Congregation and rendering God-remembrance and Self-less Service. They know the value of every breath and do not waste even a moment of their precious life-time without God-remembrance. The one who takes bath in the water of a river gains from it; whether he takes or does not take bath in the river does not make any difference to the river; the shade of a tree can cool only the one who sits under it; similarly those who adopt and practice the precious words of saints gain from them. May God bless so that all pay heed to the words of saints and live a life of Truth, love and brotherhood as hailed by them.”
On July 30, 2008, a congregation was organized in the hall of Hilton Hotel Bradford U.K. Blessing the jam-packed hall, His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj stated;
“Observing the circumstances within the world today, many are forced to comment that the world is passing through the darkest of dark age or (Ghor Kaliyuga). There is hatred, selfishness, animosity and violence between man and man. At the same time the presence of those who are virtuous and selfless and cherish the well-being of all, serves the purpose of a ray of hope in this darkness of ignorance; such ones are indeed a blessing for the earth whereas the evil and violent-minded people become a cause for the fall of humanity.
A tiny butterfly during its short life-span enhances the beauty of the world with its own beauty; it makes its contribution to increase rather than decrease the beauty of the world! Similarly man too, can make a beautiful contribution for the world if he adopts goodness instead of evil-mindedness in his life; he will be happy himself as well as give happiness to others.
When we look around in the world, we find an abundance of those who are giving nothing but distortion and ugliness to the world. Man has become oblivious of his True identity as a mad man forgets his own name! Man is fast asleep in the stupor of ignorance. Though he performs rites and rituals, reading and recitation of God’s name yet he does not love the men created by God. All the saints, sages and religions instruct man to love all as all men are the children of One God and yet man lives a life of pride, hatred and violence!
Saints always make an effort so that man moves in the True direction; so that instead of pride and hatred man lives with love humility. It is indeed commendable when man attains name, fame and glory but more important and loftier than that is when man lives with humanity. May God bless so that all live with love, peace and brotherhood and make this world a happier place for all to live in.”
The same day, His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj was formally welcomed by Honorable Lord Mayor Counsellor Middleton on behalf of all the citizens of Yorkshire. He heartily applauded the contribution of the Mission for its social welfare activities. Miss Sally Webstar, a representative for the organization, Cancer Research, was also present on the occasion. The young devotees had collected a donation of 2000 pounds which was handed over by Baba Ji to the organization on the same day. Miss Webstar gave a detailed account of the organization and also thanked His Holiness. The programme was organized with the enthusiasm and effort of many officials of Sant Nirankari Mandal, Sewa Dal volunteers and members of congregation. Blessing the devotees, His Holiness stated;
“Along with the strengthening of spiritual values, the devotees’ effort to help the weaker sections of society is commendable. May the children and the youth continue making their contribution for the welfare of all. May the effort for social welfare be made in every part of the world.”
