SATSANG PROGRAMME IN THE DIVINE PRESENCE OF
HIS HOLINESS
BABA HARDEV SINGH JI MAHARAJ
Delhi, Badarpur, July
10, 2008
On Thursday, July 10, 2008 His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj attended a huge congregation in Badarpur, Delhi. Rev. Nirankari Rajmata Kulwant Kaur Ji accompanied him. Since Baba Ji had just returned from a visit to Garhwal and its adjoining areas in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh a large number of devotees came for his holy darshan from Delhi and Greater Delhi.
Addressing the congregation, His Holiness said, “Everywhere the man is found suffering from ignorance, superstitions and blind faith and the hilly areas I just visited are not an exception. People are following their conventions, rites and rituals, undertaking pilgrimages and observing fasts etc. rather blindly. They are least conscious of what the holy scriptures say about salvation.
Everybody says this human life is as precious as a diamond and it is a sign of one’s good fortune. But in practice, we find this valuable gift of God being wasted like cowries and man remaining unfortunate.
Saints are, therefore, endeavouring to awaken such people and unite them with Truth. Like lighted lamps, they are kindling every extinguished lamp that comes in contact with. And those who get spiritually awakened walk miles to attend Satsang (congregations).
In the past also saints and sages had the same message for man – to come out of false beliefs, superstitions and rituals etc. and unite with Truth. Those who agreed, attained the bliss and began to dance and express their joy. But those who did not, continued to suffer in the darkness of ignorance. For them, saints had to say that there is no taker for the truth.’
Such people have continued to follow the rites and rituals rather blindly – without knowing the One whom they seek to please, adore and worship. If somebody asks them, for example, why they have undertaken a pilgrimage to a particular holy shrine, their answer is that this is a good deed. Or they will say that since some wish has been granted, so they are visiting the holy place. Those who do not establish their link with truth are just like the bullock who goes on pulling the wheel and walking non stop with a bandage on its eyes. They do not realize that every walk (chalna) does not mean arrival (Pahunchna). On the other hand, those who live the lives while uniting with truth do not bother about worldly objects. They remain contented and happy even in their poor huts, while others, the rich ones, may not find happiness in palaces. They realize that real happiness lies uniting with truth. They find their life revolutionized. Like Kabir Ji, they declare that they do not wish to have joy (of material world) that may give pain at the end. They prefer the lasting happiness that lies in the salvation of soul.
This state of eternal bliss cannot be attained without the company of saints. One needs the grace of Satguru (the True Master) to realize the truth. Kabir Ji, Bulle Shah and other great saints declare that they perceived the Invisible only with the divine grace of the True Master. And those who realize the truth, even their barren minds get lush green crops of true happiness with the divine rain of God-knowledge.
Today, the Sant Nirankari Mission too is preaching the same message and awakening man to unite with Truth. People today seems to have forgotten that spirituality is the essence of true religion. A religion identified with rites and rituals only is not a true religion. Let us, therefore, pray that every human being adopts spirituality and attains happiness here and hereafter.”
