SATSANG PROGRAMME IN THE DIVINE PRESENCE OF
HIS HOLINESS
BABA HARDEV SINGH JI MAHARAJ
Delhi, Ground No. 8, July
13, 2008
His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj addressed a huge congregation in Delhi on Sunday, July 13, 2008. The congregation was marked by the Chola ceremony of Baba Ji’s newly-born grand-daughter Sampriti, the second child of Rev Samta Ji and Rev Sandeep Khinda Ji. Baba Ji blessed the little one with the Sant Nirankari Sewa Dal uniform. A large number of devotees from Delhi and its adjoining areas attended the congregation. Addressing the devotees, His Holiness said:
“Today you all have assembled to bless the child. We have made her wear the Sewa Dal uniform. The same uniform was given to her mother Samta by Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji, in her Chola ceremony in 1977. Similarly, Hardik (Samta Ji’s son) was also given the Sewa Dal uniform in his Chola ceremony in UK. The idea is that our children may receive spiritual environment and adopt the noble values of Satsang (company of saints), Simran (remembrance of God) and Sewa (selfless service) right from their childhood. They should imbibe the values of Gurmat and make a place for themselves in everybody’s heart. As they move on the path of life, they should rely on the Almighty Nirankar, hue themselves in His divine colour.
Devotion to God makes life worthwhile. Otherwise, everybody in this world is living his/her life. We have to see what kind of feelings they have, what kind of behaviour they have. There are those who create troubles, make people fight. They disturb the quiet water of a tank. They are good to look at, but they lose all their pleasantness when we go by their thoughts, their feelings, their behavious. They are guided by negative considerations of the world.
On the other hand, devotees always unite people; they do not divide them. Whereas worldly people increase distances between man and man, devotees reduce the same. They do not look at the shortcomings of others. They value their good qualities. They use their tongue to praise God, while other people in the world indulge in ridiculing and maligning others. Worldly people utter such words as leave the others’ hearts wounded and burning. Even at home they create suspicions atmosphere and cause tension.
That is why we wish for the child here that since she is born in the lap of saints, she may rise to imbibe the qualities of saints only. She may be brought up in saintly environment of positivity so that she develops a positive outlook.
As we know, a child is the sharpest observer. It is like the chip in a computer. It receives whatever we feed, as it is. We, the elders, have, therefore, to be very careful while behaving in their presence. Several children are found complaining against the bad habits of their elders. Let us remember that our children will fill the colours only in the outline we provide to them. They are so simple, so innocent. Their childhood knows no deceiving, no fraud.
People use all their faculties of head and heart to hoodwink others, to cheat others. Devotees too have their own wisdom and intellect but they use the same for their own welfare as well as the welfare of others. That is why they lead their lives in the light of God-knowledge, as per the guidance they receive in the company of saints. Otherwise, we know what kind of thoughts this Mind can have!
So, we raise this voice here and call upon every individual to seek the company of saints and learn the true art of living. It is by this only that man can make his life beautiful and become a blessing for the mankind.
When we lead our lives illumined with God-knowledge, it yields healthy results. No doubt the clouds of the world try to cover the sun of their devotion to God, but they are found in the same light as soon as those clouds shatter. Like the sun, their devotion stays on despite the clouds. They always wish to be in the company of saints, sing the praise of God and find opportunities to serve others. Let us pray that this spirit of devotion finds more and more strength.”
