On the 30th April 2009
the Sant Nirankari Mission received an award for its work to
help make the environment cleaner by its contribution to the
Big Spring Clean in Sandwell. The glittering ceremony was
held in the Main Chamber of the Sandwell Council Building
and all the participants who helped to improve the
environment were appreciated by the Local Authority for
their efforts.


The evening was opened by the Deputy
Mayor of Sandwell Iris Boucher and then a History of the Big
Spring Clean was outlined by Linsey Richmond of Tipton
Litter Watch. A fact which brought out by her was that the
objective of this event was to create a cleaner, safer and
active communities. The Award Presentation was made to Chair
of the West Midlands Branch Committee Sukhjinder Singh and
Sofia Constantinou of the PR department of the Council
announced that, “Members of the Mission always make a
magnificent contribution to this event and have been doing
so for the last three years since its inception.” This was
received with a huge round of applause by the gathered
members of the community. This Mission was recognised as one
of the Community groups working in tandem with the
initiatives that were being highlighted by the Council.
