Guided by their commitment to social work,
600 volunteers of the Sant Nirankari Sewa Dal are currently
assisting the Traffic Police, Delhi to regulate the movement
of vehicles in connection with the Common Wealth Games –
2010. In all, there are 1500 volunteers from different
organizations.
Shri Ajay Chadha Special Commissioner Delhi Police revealed
at a press conference on the eve of the Games that Sant
Nirankari Mission was the first voluntary organization to offer
such help. In fact they approached Delhi Police even before the
latter announced the volunteer programme.
Rev C. L. Gulati, Secretary Sant Nirankari Mandal who was
accompanied by Rev H.L. Arora, Brig (Retd) P.S. Cheema, Rev O.P. Nirankari and Rev
Joginder Sukhija, also addressed the media persons and said that
most of the Nirankari volunteers are from Yamunanagar,
Chandigarh and Delhi. All of them are staying at the Govindpuri
Satsang Bhawan and performing at least 6 to 8 hours’ duty. They
have been allotted one of the most important traffic points near
the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Some volunteers are on duty at
Parking places also.
