Manav Ekta Diwas in the United Kingdom Manav Ekta Diwas (Human Unity Day) was celebrated in remembrance of the teachings of His Holiness Satguru Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji and to mark the sacrifices of Devotees of the Mission on the 27th April 2008 in Wednesbury. This unique occasion attracted people from all over the country and abroad, including contributors from as far as Greece, Australia and India.
In fact the cause to spread the word of Human Unity of the Mission began a week earlier when over 60 youngsters contributed to the Big Spring Clean on the 20th April 2008 in Wednesbury. This is a local initiative which invites people to help keep the local environment clean and tidy, which created a great feeling of harmony and sense of integration in the community. The project leaders from the local town team and councillor Hughes also attended to support the event and thanked everyone for the continual support. After this a short Sevadal camp had been arranged in the presence of Khurana Ji who was visiting the UK. This too encouraged and inspired all the youth members to work to deliver the noble message of Baba Ji. This was valued by all attendees, as Khurana Ji advised all of the roots of the Sewadal and how it all developed in the early years.
To return to the Manav Ekta, Breakfast was served in the morning after which Satsang commenced at 11 am by stage secretary Upashak Ji. The stage was wonderfully decorated with the words Manav Ekta Diwas displayed in flowers. Numerous speakers contributed by way of poetry, speeches and hymns to the delight of the listening 1500 devotees. Devotees shared their personal experiences with Baba Ji which were enriching and touching, illustrating the humility and love of this great Master for all those who came into his company.
A small exhibition was on display with photographs of Baba Ji and during the Satsang a short DVD presentation on the History of the Mission and life of Baba Ji was shown. This had tremendous impact on everyone providing historic footage which had not previously been shown to the devotees of the UK.
Vivek Shauq ji also addressed the Satsang suggesting that we should all remove hatred form our hearts to truly live in human unity and do justice to this day. Amongst the other distinguished speakers stood Abida Begum, Malkiat Khinda and Sister Neeru who delivered a wonderful exposition in the Gujarati language. The hymns from young and old gave an uplifting vibration and were appreciated by all. The Satsang ended with a discourse from His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji received through the internet.
Lunch was served after which all the gathered devotees returned to their respective homes benefiting from a great day in which the teaching of Human Unity shone through to every heart. It is our prayer that this movement gathers greater pace in order to achieve our objective of Universal Brotherhood. * * * * * * * |
