National Bal Samagam – London (UK) With the grace of the Almighty Formless Nirankar, a National Bal (Youth ) Samagam to celebrate the contribution of the youngsters in Society was held at the London Satsang Bhawan on the 9th May 2008. Young devotees of the Mission travelled from far and wide to join in the Samagam including a full coach load from the West Midlands.
On arrival all devotees were served with breakfast after which they were guided into the Satsang hall and the Samagam commenced promptly at 11am. There were numerous speeches, given on a whole host of subjects and the deep thoughts of the youngsters were indeed inspiring. Poems were prepared and hymns sung to lift the occasion in a whole host of different languages. There were contributions from the Bal Sangat members as groups from all the geographical locations of the UK.
Devotees spoke of how the world is in need of peace and not pieces. Thoughts were shared on unity in diversity and the global message of Baba Ji. During the course of the Samagam a play was performed in which children acted as puppets illustrating the message that the elders should be careful over their actions, as the youth are impressionable and will follow the standards set by their elders. This also formed part of the concluding video message sent by Baba ji in which he advised that the youth are good observers and that a high degree of responsibility lay with the guiding adults. He also cautioned that as children are at a learning point in their lives, we should always balance our expectations of them appropriately. The beautiful words of His Holiness gave all participants a great deal to think about.
The Samagam ended with the serving of lunch in the open, as the wonderful sunshine offered its warmth to all attendees on this day.
A wonderful media exhibition had been organised by Sister Sonia Nihal and her team depicting the activities of the Bal forums across the UK through photography and video, displaying models amongst other things. This was a commendable effort and further encouraged everyone.
The Mission’s work to direct the youth on the path of humanity can only be positive, in a society where we are increasingly finding that the youth are not gaining the qualities of love, tolerance, respect et al. The direction of the Spiritual Guide is bearing fruit as the youngsters grow gracefully being armed with the spirit to create peace and not pieces, which will serve to be very useful for the entire community in years to come. * * * * * * * |
