On May 2, 2008, His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj inaugurated in Delhi a two-day all-India meet of Editors of Nirankari magazines and periodicals. More than 60 editors and sub-editors from all over India attended the meeting, the first of its hand. The President of the Sant Nirankari Mandal, Shri JRD Satyarthi welcomed Baba Ji whereas the Head of Magazine Department, Shri CL Gulati welcomed Pujya Mata Savinder Kaur Ji on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj stated;
“Nirankari literature has played a significant role in propagating Sant Nirankari Mission. The history of Sant Nirankari Mission and Nirankari magazines and periodicals is linked with each other. Since the time when the Mission’s Headquarters were shifted to Delhi after the partition of India, the competent editors through the medium of their pen and skilled writing have played an important role in taking the message of Truth to the masses. Sajjan Singh Ji laid the foundation of Sant Nirankari literature with his earnest effort and farsightedness. The significant contribution made by him can never be over-looked. He made a constant effort to propagate and take the Message of Truth to all; for this he chose the powerful medium of literature. Thereafter Bhai Sahib Santokh Singh Ji and Amar Singh Ji made Sant Nirankari literature flourish further with their hard and untiring efforts. Along with writing about ‘Gurmat’ or discipleship, they also strengthened the same in their life and thus became a source of inspiration. Later, during Mussoorie Conference, further guidelines were issued to strengthen the propagation of the Mission through the medium of literature. It is because of the commendable and resolute efforts of the editors of different magazines, periodicals and newspapers that Sant Nirankari literature has reached the level where it is today. Today, ‘Sant Nirankari’, ‘Ek Nazar’ and children’s monthly ‘Hansti Duniya’ get published from different cities in the country. The magazine ‘Sant Nirankari’ is getting published in 11 languages of the country and playing an impressive role in propagating the teachings of the Mission. Similarly, the children’s magazine, ‘Hansti Duniya’ is getting published in Hindi, English, Punjabi and Marathi and making an effective contribution in making children aware of noble values of life. Its rendition in English has made it popular in India as well as other countries of the world with the children as well as the youth. The magazine is also popular outside Sant Nirankari Mission and helping inculcate moral values. The fortnightly newspaper ‘Ek Nazar’ has reached its present status because of the enthusiasm and hardwork of innumerable saints; the efforts made by saints i.e. direct as well as indirect have helped it reach its present shape despite many-a-difficult period and obstacle; it is fast emerging as a powerful medium to take the message of the Mission to the masses. Efforts should be made by the editors to make available as many number of inspiring and impressive articles as possible to the readers. Free literature too, has its own significance as well as role to play; today the same is getting published in many European languages. An effort is also being made to add more and more colour to Nirankari newspapers and magazines; the appeal of the magazine ‘Sant Nirankari’ has increased manifold because of the same; its colored title attracts everyone. An adequate and efficient team of artists works hard to make the periodicals more beautiful for the readers. Along with adding beauty to the periodicals, an effort should also be made to increase their membership and awaken readers’ curiosity to read them.”
The proceedings of the meeting highlighted the steps being taken to popularize the Nirankari Journals in all their languages. It was also decided that their should be an advertisement policy applicable to all the Journals. Similarly, it was emphasized that Ek Nazar fortnightly may be brought out in more languages, particularly in Marathi. The meeting also discussed various measures to expedite the redressing of complaints received from subscribers at the Headquarters. In view of the its usefulness, the participants felt that such meetings may be organized in future also. * * * * * * * |
