Zonal Youth Samagam in Chennai

Chennai hosted a grand youth Samagam for the young devotees of the Sant Nirankari Mission from all the Southern States on May 11, 2008.  The Samagam was organized in response to a call by His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj that efforts may be made to motivate our young saints to participate in the various activities of the Mission actively.   He emphasized that the younger generation can better communicate with their counterparts outside the Mission in this age of science.

The Chennai Samagam was attended by about 300 youth from Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Andhra Pradesh.  They had a detailed session on the Mission’s ideology, social work and other activities with particular reference to the role of youth.   It was marked by a presentation by Rev. Navodita Mishra from Bangalore on “Stress Management”.  They also put up a colourful exhibition depicting the various aspects of the Mission’s philosophy, particularly the role of selfless service (Sewa) as a medium of devotion to God.

Presiding over the Samagam, Dr. Vijay Sharma, Editor ‘Ek Nazar’ (Hindi) from Delhi said that this Mission, specially, from the days of Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji Maharaj, has a great confidence in its youth.  Even Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj today desires the youth to come forward as the Mission’s second line of preachers.

Dr. Vijay Sharma said that the youth should not indulge in petty controversies over diet, dress etc. What values is what we speak and not what we eat or wear.  Similarly, the service unto others should be selfless.  As Baba Ji says a devotee does not want his name.  On the other hand, he is always modest and humble claiming no credit.

Speaking on the occasion, Rev. DR Bajaj, Member Incharge Branches and Zonal Incharge for the Southern States said that the young saints are already quite active in the Zone.  They are not only taking part in Sewa and Satsang but also organizing innovative programmes to promote the Mission among the elite class of the society.  He exhorted them to continue with greater zeal since Satguru also expected it from them.  He reminded them that the Mission’s principles find relevance to the needs of every section of the society in the modern age.  Hence the youth has a very big role to play to take it to the quarters untouched so far.

Sewa Dal Adhikari Camp

The youth Samagam was preceded by a Sewa Dal Adhikari Camp on May 9, 2008.  While Rev. Bajaj presided, the camp was attended by more than 100 delegates including the two Kshetriya Sanchalaks of the Zone, all the Sanchalaks, Shikshaks and Sahayak Shikshaks as also the local Sewa Dal members.

Addressing the participants, Rev. Bajaj appreciated the role of the Sant Nirankari Sewa Dal for their support to the Mission’s activities particularly towards preaching its message through congregations and Samagams.  He, however, emphasized the need for better co-ordination between Sewa Dal and other functionaries of the Mission at the branch level.

Zonal Pramukh/Mukhi Meet

A Zonal Pramukh/Mukhi Meet was held at the same venue on May 10.  Over 60 Pramukhs, Mukhis and Pracharaks from all over the Southern Zone comprising Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Pondicherry, participated.  The meeting discussed the various steps to be taken to promote the Mission among the masses in the region.

Presiding over the meeting, Rev Bajaj pointed out that the message of love and compassion, peace and harmony that the Mission sought to preach is the need of one and all.  It is the duty of those who are blessed with the divine knowledge to share the same with others since it holds the key to peace and prosperity for the entire mankind.  He emphasized that the Mission does not come into clash with any religion of the world even though they are dominated by ritualism and dogmatism.  What we emphasize is that everyone must know the God he or she worships.
