7th Annual CIBC Run for the Cure - Sant Nirankari Mission, Toronto On October 5th 2008, with the blessings of Satguru Baba Hardev Singh Ji, the Sant Nirankari Mission, Toronto participated in the 7th annual CIBC Run for the Cure at the Flower City Community Campus. This gave the Sant Nirankari Mission youth, a chance to be part of the largest single-day volunteer-led fundraising event dedicated to creating a future without breast cancer. The young saints between the ages of 6 to 25 along with parents united under the team Sant Nirankari Mission, arrived at the Bhawan early Sunday morning. Their enthusiasm was praised by satsang who donated to the cause. With the blessings of Baba Ji the Toronto saints were able to raise $3100 towards cancer research. Once again, this was an opportunity for the youth to do sewa for the greater community and to spread the word of the mission. The CIBC Run for the cure was held in 55 communities, 170,000 participants joined together to raise a millions for breast cancer research, education and awareness programs. Furthermore, The saints wore their t-shirts of “peace not pieces” and showed that by working together as a team and community, “the sky is the limit” to the things we can accomplish. Numerous members from the community observed the valued message written on the t-shirts and a reporter from the local newspaper also approached a youth from the Sant Nirankari Mission. He was intrigued by the message on the t-shirts and the support of the Mission. Baba Hardev Singh Ji continues to spread the message of love, peace, kindness, and goodwill for all. The youth felt that as a global family we must all be contributing members of society. May we always remember Baba Ji’s message and follow in his footsteps to spread love, kindness, and wish goodwill for all through our words and actions. The Sant Nirankari Mission looks forward to continuing its participation in events that help those in need. * * * * * * * |
