Dr. B.S. Nirman Passes Away
Dr. Balwant Singh Nirman, a Member of the Executive Committee of the Sant Nirankari Mandal passed into his eternal abode at 9:15 am (IST) today (Monday, October 27, 2008). He was 87. The cremation took place today at 3:30 pm at Nigam Bodh Ghat. His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj led the funeral procession and later attended the cremation also. A special congregation to pay homage to Dr. B.S. Nirman will be held on Thursday, October 30 from 4.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. in the Sant Nirankari Senior Secondary School’s hall in the Sant Nirankari Colony, Delhi in the presence of His Holiness. Dr. B.S. Nirman joined Sant Nirankari Mission in 1948 and dedicated all his time and energy to the Mission. He was appointed as Editor of ‘Sant Nirankari’ (Punjabi) in 1950 where he continued till 1960. Dr. Nirman was one of the founder members of the Sant Nirankari Sewa Dal and he functioned as its Mukhya Sanchalak from 1956 to 1992. He was nominated as the Manager of Sant Nirankari Girls Sr. Sec. School in 1962. He did this Sewa till 1993. Dr. B.S. Nirman was a Member of the Working Committee right from its constitution in 1979. He was inducted in the Executive Committee of the Sant Nirankari Mandal in April, 1993 and assigned the responsibilities of Member Incharge, Medical Department. In 1995 Dr. Nirman took over as Member Incharge Education. In 2002 he was made Member Incharge Sewa Dal also. He continued to hold these two departments till 2005, when he was attached to the Prachar Vibhag. Here he continues till his last breath.
