Nirankari Media Training Workshop for Punjab
Rajpura : June 13-14, 2008

The Press and Publicity Department of the Sant Nirankari Mandal organized a two-day training workshop at Rajpura for saints associated with the publicity of the Mission through media in Punjab, on June 13-14, 2008.  More than  50 delegates participated.  Some of the local Pracharaks (preachers) also attended the Workshop.

Prisided over by Rev Kirpa Sagar, Member Incharge Press and Publicity Department, the workshop was inaugurated by Rev. Joginder Kaur, Member Incharge Prachar Vibhag.  Rev. Amarjit Singh, Zonal Incharge, Patiala welcomed the delegates.  The faculty members included Rev.C.L. Gulati, Member Incharge, Patrika Vibhag and Members of the Advisory Committree attached to Press & Publicity Department Rev. Satish Talwar, Delhi and Rev. H.S. Nirman, Chandigarh.  Rev. Naranjan Singh, IAS (Retd.) also addressed the delegates.

In her inaugural address, Rev. Joginder Kaur Ji said that as mentioned in the 'Parchar Evam Prabandh Vyavastha – 2002' we must encourage our youth to come forward and participate in taking the message of the Mission to the masses. She said that the Prachar Vibhag is launching a special drive for this.

Referring to our approach towards media, Rev. Joginder Kaur Ji said that we should highlight the principles of the Mission in a positive manner and avoid criticism of any kind.  She asked Zonal Incharges to take personal interest in the media work.  She suggested that we can have group discussions over electronic media so that the information about the Mission reaches the elite sections of our socieity more widely.

In his Presidential address, Rev. Kirpa Sagar said that like Parchar Vibhag, Publication Department, Patrika Vibhag and other departments of the Sant Nirankari Mandal, the Press & Publicity Department's objective also is to take the Mission's information to the masses, remove their doubts and also strengthen the faith of those who have already joined it.  For media, he said the Mission is an open book.  We would like the media persons to come, see and listen and then report accordingly.  He said that broadly speaking the print media as also the electronic media is cooperating since the message of the Mission is positive and finds relevance to the needs of the day.

Referring to the Workshop, he said that our endeavor is to familiarize the saints dealing with Media with the needs of the profession with particular reference to the ideology of the Mission and its activities.  He also emphasized the need for professional approach with the help of the latest information technology.  He also stated that the effort is being made to involve the educated youth of the Mission in the Media work by providing necessary guidance and briefing.

Rev. Naranjan Singh Ji, stated that we should be craving to take the Mission's message to each and every corner of the world and should know how to transform this craving into action.  He hoped that the present Workshop will provide training to transform this craving into action.  Rev. Naranjan Singh Ji further stated that we must say whatever we want to say but without offending anybody. He suggested that the delegates may establish permanent rapport  with media persons.

During the two-day Workshop papers were presented on Media Approach, Mission's Ideology, Public Relations and how to establish rapport with Media persons. Feature Articles, Nirankari Conventions, Nirankari Sant Samagams, Photo Coverage, Electronic Media and Nirankari Website were also discussed in detail.
